Welcome to the Lancaster Karate Club

The Lancaster Karate Club has been active at the YMCA for over 30 years. Sensei Gary Darling is the lead instructor. Students learn basic through advanced karate techniques, as well as, a variety of weapons techniques. The basics are very easy to learn and can be used by any age level at any time for serious self defense. We concentrate on classic kata, tournament fighting and modern self defense techniques. The YMCA membership allows for a considerable discount, or classes can be purchased per session. Each session lasts approximately six weeks finishing with a promotion ceremony. Everyone eight years and older is welcome to join at any time. We encourage you to watch a class or two if you like before you decide to join. Class sizes currently range from twenty to fifty students each evening. We have a number of Sensei's on hand to create smaller groups. Monday classes concentrate on conditioning and self defense. Wednesday classes concentrate on kata. A Gi and/or Tee shirt may be purchased through Sensei Gary after you are comfortable with the class and would like to continue.
